In 1997, she made her acting debut in 1997 at thirteen. In 1997, Vandervoort had her debut as an actress at age 13. After attending several classes as well as background work on Canadian shows such as Road to Avonlea or Harriet the Spy she was offered a voice on the Canadian kids horror anthology Goosebumps. [2] After commercials and appearances as a guest star in Mutant X, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story, Goosebumps, Twice in a Lifetime, Doc, Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Troubled Waters, The Dresden Files, along with a handful of Disney Channel Original films (Mom's Had A Date with a Vampire and Alley Cats Strike), at the age of 19, at York University, in the faculties of Psychology and English. Vandervoort got a leading role in Sadie Harrison in the CTV teens' drama Instant Star, which was on air for four seasons. Then, in 2006 Vandervoort made her acting debut in a film, a feature titled The Lookout alongside Jeff Daniels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Matthew Goode and Isla Fisher. A variety of other TV appearances, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation resulted in Vandervoort to the role of Clark Kent's Kryptonian counterpart "Kara Kent" (the woman destined to be Supergirl) in The CW serial drama Smallville. The season 7 episode was the first time she was a regular in the series. The episode she appeared on was "Bloodline" episode, which was the eighth season episode. [3] She then returned for two episodes more in the final season of the tenth season of Smallville. [4] Following The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort then shot the sequel to the feature film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman is her third independent film. The film also featured in a Canadian cast, including Michael Ironside, who appeared in in the second V miniseries and the regular 1984 V series.
